Refund Policy

Effective October 21, 2026

The short version

1. Who you buy from

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Stripe, through Link, its checkout. Stripe is the Merchant of Record for all our orders: it takes the payment, adds any sales tax or VAT, and sends your receipt (from Link). Stripe also handles refunds, and you can ask either of us for one.

The app for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android (coming soon) is sold by Apple (the App Store) and Google (Google Play), not by us or Stripe: see section 9.

2. What you can buy

The whole game is free in your browser: skirmish against the AI and online multiplayer, with no daily limit. What you can buy on the website is Supporter:

PlanPriceWhat you get
Supporter$5 onceThe Supporter badge next to your name. Unlimited online games for as long as we run online play.

The monthly plan ($3 a month) is no longer sold; plans bought before keep renewing until cancelled (section 6).

Prices are in US dollars and include sales tax or VAT where it applies. Your checkout may show the price in your own currency.

3. Refunds within 14 days

If you ask within 14 days of a payment, we refund all of it. You don't need to give a reason. This covers the Supporter purchase, the first month, and any monthly renewal.

When a payment is refunded, what it paid for ends: a refunded Supporter purchase takes the account back to the free plan, and a refunded month ends the monthly plan straight away. Your account, friends, statistics and games stay as they are.

4. How to ask

We answer within a few days. The money goes back to the card or account you paid with; most banks show it within 5 to 10 business days.

5. After 14 days

Write to us anyway if something went wrong: a double charge, a payment you didn't mean to make, or a problem on our side that kept you from playing what you paid for. Mistaken and duplicate charges are always refunded. Otherwise we decide case by case, and we lean toward yes.

6. Cancelling a monthly plan

Cancel any time in the game (My account → Profile → Plan) or in your Link account at app.link.com. The plan stops renewing and you keep unlimited games until the end of the month you already paid for. If you'd rather have that last payment back and it's within 14 days, ask and we'll refund it.

7. If online play closes

If we ever close online play for good, we'll stop all monthly plans before the next renewal and give notice on the website first. Supporter purchases made in the 12 months before the closing date are refunded in full. The app keeps working offline (skirmish, training and the Handbook).

8. Your legal rights

This policy adds to the rights you have under the law where you live, and doesn't take any of them away. In the EU and UK, for example, you have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase; our 14 days match it, with no questions asked and no need for the game to be unused.

We may say no to someone who repeatedly buys and refunds, who is using a stolen card, or whose account we closed for breaking the Terms of Use (they lose what they bought, except where the law says otherwise). Those are the only exceptions.

9. The app

The app costs $4.99 once and is sold by Apple and Google, who take the payment and handle refunds under their own policies: on the App Store at reportaproblem.apple.com, on Google Play from your order history (Google refunds within 48 hours of the purchase on request, and decides later requests). We can't refund an app purchase ourselves. A refunded app no longer runs; the Supporter badge that came with it may be removed.
